Who is eligible for SNAP E&T?

Participation in SNAP E&T is required for SNAP Food Assistance recipients who meet the following criteria:
- Age 18-59
- Do not have children under the age of 14 on their SNAP Food Assistance case
- Are not working 30 hours or more per week
Participation in SNAP E&T is required to maintain SNAP Food Assistance benefits while helping participants build skills, gain experience, and access support and resources.

What are SNAP E&T participants required to do?

There is no one-size-fits-all approach. After attending SNAP E&T Orientation, you’ll work with a career navigator to create a plan that fits your goals, interests, and schedule.

SNAP E&T focuses on long-term success, not quick fixes. You will begin approved activities that may include learning in-demand skills, earning a GED, joining a training program, finding a job, or gaining hands-on work experience with local employers. Approved E&T activities count toward meeting the work requirements for SNAP Food Assistance.

What support services are available through SNAP E&T?

SNAP E&T can help remove barriers that are getting in your way so you can stay on track. Support services may include:
- Transportation assistance
- Work-related items (uniforms, tools, equipment)
- Education and training-related items (books, tuition)
- Limited childcare support (for eligible participants)

How do I get started with SNAP E&T?

Based on your SNAP Food Assistance eligibility, you may be referred to SNAP E&T. You will be scheduled to attend SNAP E&T Orientation to learn how the program works, what your options are, the benefits that are available to you, and how SNAP E&T can support your goals.

After orientation, you’ll meet one-on-one with a career navigator who will help you build a plan based on your goals. You’ll then begin approved activities such as job search, training or education programs or other career-building steps to help you meet SNAP Food Assistance work requirements.

As you move forward, you’ll continue to receive support through SNAP E&T.
