How to Apply

Visit the State of Kansas Employment Center to view job vacancies and apply for civil service jobs.

Pay and Benefits
  • Health Insurance — Medical, dental, prescription, and vision coverage are available for all benefit eligible employees. Premiums may be paid on a pre-tax basis. 
  • Retirement — The Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS) is a defined benefit program which benefit eligible employees begin contributing the first day of employment. 
  • Group Term Life Insurance — The Kansas Department for Children and Families, a state agency, provides life insurance coverage equal to 150 percent of your annual salary. Additional coverage up to $250,000 may be purchased
  • Deferred Compensation — Voluntary defined contribution retirement plan which helps employees supplement their KPERS retirement income. Contributions are made on a pretax basis. 
  • Flexible Spending Accounts — Health and Dependent Care accounts are available. Employees make annual elections, which are paid ​on a pretax basis.
  • Vacation — Earn up to 12 days of vacation leave within the first year. Accrual rates increase after 5, 10, and 15 years of service. 
  • Sick Leave — Earn up to 12 sick days within the first year, which can be used for both employee and family illness, injury, or medical appointments. 
  • Holidays — Eligible employees receive 8 paid holidays per year.
  • Flexible Work Hours — To foster a family friendly work environment, employees may be allowed to work flexible schedules as long as the schedule meets agency needs.
