An In-Home child care provider is one who:
- Is employed by the parent to provide care for a child in that child’s home.
- Is not a member of that child’s household.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Is not the child’s own parent, guardian or primary caretaker.
- Provides care for less than 24 hours a day.
- Must have a referral from an DCF worker to enroll as an In-Home child care provider.
To enroll as an In-Home Child Care Provider you will need to:
- Have been referred to DCF Provider Enrollment staff by an DCF worker to provide In-Home child care.
- Gather your information:
- Your social security number
- The name and social security number of the parent whose child(ren) you will be providing care
- The name(s) of the child(ren) you will be providing care
- The EIN (Employer Identification Number) of the parent whose child(ren) you will be providing care. Verification must be provided. A parent who employs an In-Home child care provider is required to obtain a Federal Employer’s Identification Number (EIN) and must contact the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regarding their responsibilities as an employer of domestic help.

- Complete the Online Enrollment forms OR Use the forms included in the Handbook to complete on paper.
If you are unable to print the handbook, you can contact your local DCF for a copy.

After completing your online enrollment, you may return to the Provider Portal. You will have the opportunity to attach scanned copies of these documents. If you do not have documents in an electronic format, you can mail the documents to the DCF office listed on your application. Please note: Mailing required documentation may delay processing of the application.
