Rehabilitation Services Successful Initiatives with Transition Students

 
One of the major goals of KRS is to increase outreach and outcomes for transition-aged (21 years and younger) youth with disabilities. As a result of increased coordination with special education, school districts, students, and families, KRS has experienced a dramatic increase (139%) in the number of new applications from transition youth over the past five years.
 
In year 2006, 755 New Applications
In year 2007, 1347 New Applications
In year 2008, 1646 New Applications
In year 2009, 1790 New Applications
In year 2010, 1808 New Applications
 

During the same time period, the number of new Individual Plans for Employment (lPEs) for transition youth has increased 170%. A total of 25% of all persons served are transition youth.
