Newsroom Rainbow receives glowing report from Joint Commission

Topeka – The Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) is pleased to announce the successful completion of a Joint Commission survey by Rainbow Mental Health Facility.  Rainbow is an in-patient psychiatric hospital for adults located in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

The hospital is certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and accredited by the Joint Commission.  As part of the accreditation process, the Joint Commission conducts at least one unannounced survey every three years.  The process includes a rigorous review of the facility and its environment of care, nursing, medication management, and clinical treatment.

Surveyors arrived at Rainbow earlier this week and released their findings yesterday.  No citations were issued for patient care and the hospital received full accreditation.  During the exit interviews, surveyors praised the care provided to patients at the hospital, as well as the leadership and teamwork of staff.

“I’m very proud of the hard work and commitment of our staff,” said Superintendent Greg Valentine.  “We work hard to ensure all patients receive the best quality care and that dedication was evident during the survey.”

SRS Secretary Don Jordan was pleased with the results of the survey, “We know how hard Rainbow staff work every day and I’m happy the surveyors were able to observe that first hand as well.  These findings are acknowledgment of all the accomplishments the hospital has made.”
