Newsroom SRS to break ground on new office building

Kansas City, KS - The Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on July 11, 2007 at 10 a.m. to celebrate construction of the new Kansas City Service Center. The ceremony will be held at 400 State Avenue, Tower 1, Kansas City, KS.

The project will be new construction of a two story office in the parking lot of the current SRS site. The building will house SRS employees spanning several divisions and offers increased conference space, confidential interview areas, enhanced staff safety and energy efficiency.

“This building will bring substantial improvements in services and operations,” said SRS Secretary Don Jordan.  “We are looking forward to the new office space and serving Kansans with improved resources.”

The location of the new building is ideal as it is near the Children’s Campus of Kansas City.  The project brings various helping agencies together in a campus setting to enhance services to the community.

The project also represents work between SRS and Unified Government of Wyandotte County to bring building projects to revitalize downtown Kansas City.

The building is set for completion in late spring 2008.
