Newsroom SRS awards contract to KVC Behavioral HealthCare

KVC to serve as Functional Eligibility Specialist for new Autism Waiver program

Topeka – The Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) has awarded a contract to KVC Behavioral HealthCare, Inc. to serve as the statewide Functional Eligibility Specialist for the new Autism Waiver program being implemented in January 2008.

“KVC will play an important role in the program, helping to ensure timely access to services for children referred for assessment and also promoting participant choice.” Don Jordan, SRS Secretary.

To be eligible for Autism Waiver services, a child must have a diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder and meet the functional eligibility requirements established by Medicaid.

KVC will conduct assessments to determine a child’s functional eligibility for the program. In addition, KVC will provide information and referral to eligible children and their families to aid in gaining access to needed medical, social, educational, and other services.

"KVC Behavioral HealthCare has been providing services to children and families for nearly 40 years.  We are extremely excited about this partnership with the State of Kansas to connect children with Autism to services that have the goal of improving their quality of life as well as the quality of life of their families.  We believe that every child deserves the chance to reach his or her potential and this program is another opportunity to do just that."  Wayne Sims, CEO and President of KVC Behavioral HealthCare.

Additional information regarding services provided by the Autism Waiver can be located at the Austism Waiver home page or call 1-888-369-4777.
