TOPEKA – The Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) is pleased to unveil its new service center located at 2601 S. Oliver St., in Wichita. A dedication ceremony for the facility was held this afternoon to allow the media and invited guests from the public to tour the newly-renovated building.
“We are excited to offer this professional and inviting space for our clients,” Wichita Regional Director Bill Gale said. “A great deal of thought and planning went into this move, and we are already receiving plenty of positive feedback.”
The 97,532 square feet facility, formerly the United States Postal Remote Encoding Center now houses the services previously provided by DCF at the Finney State Office Building, 130 S. Market St. The building, which required approximately four months of renovation, opened to the public on Aug. 31.
The new facility features improved security, a single floor for greater efficiency and access to ample free and safe parking for staff and clients.
The move creates a 28 percent reduction in space and an $8 to $10 million cost savings over the 20-year lease period. No staffing levels were reduced.
