TOPEKA – Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) Secretary Phyllis Gilmore is pleased to announce today, the winner of the 2015 DCF Charity Championship. Kansas City staff members raised the most money of the regions to support their designated charity, Harvesters Community Food Network. The Kansas City region collected $2,055. During the days of the tournament, DCF employees voluntarily made a minimum $3 donation so they could wear their college team T-shirts, polos or sweatshirts. All money raised will benefit five designated charities.
“This was a great way to boost employee morale, team spirit and help our community partnering organizations,” Secretary Gilmore said. “I’m proud of our employees who are always willing to help others in the work they do for the agency and in their communities.”
The charities were selected for each of the four DCF regions and DCF’s central office in Topeka. The charities include Children’s Miracle Network in the West region, Daily Bread Food Pantry in the Wichita region, Big Brothers Big Sisters in the East, and the Topeka Rescue Mission for central office.
DCF has 2,300 employees. This is the second year of this annual fundraiser.
