TOPEKA – Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) Secretary Phyllis Gilmore is pleased to announce today, the winner of the 2014 DCF Charity Championship. Wichita staff members raised the most money of the regions to support their designated charity, Wichita Children’s Home. The Wichita region collected $650. During the days of the tournament, DCF employees voluntarily made a minimum $3 donation so they could wear their University of Kansas., Kansas State University or Wichita State University team T-shirts, polos or sweatshirts. All money raised benefits four designated charities.
“This was a great way to boost employee morale, team spirit and help our community partnering organizations,” Secretary Gilmore said. “I’m proud of our employees who are always willing to help others in the work they do for the agency and in their communities.”
The charities were selected for each of the four DCF regions and DCF’s central office in Topeka. The charities include Sunflower House, CASA, Wichita Children’s Home, Children’s Miracle Network and Project Topeka.
