TOPEKA – March is an exciting time for basketball fans, and the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) has plenty of staff cheering on teams in the tournament. In an effort to support Kansas teams and local charities, DCF Secretary Phyllis Gilmore is pleased to announce details of the 2014 DCF Charity Championship. During the days of the tournament, DCF employees will voluntarily make a minimum $3 donation so they can wear their team T-shirts, polos or sweatshirts. All money raised goes to four designated charities.
“This is a great way to boost employee morale, team spirit and help our community partnering organizations,” Secretary Gilmore said. “Employees are definitely excited to participate.”
The charities were selected for each of the four DCF regions and DCF’s central office in Topeka. The charities include Sunflower House, CASA, Wichita Children’s Home, Children’s Miracle Network and Project Topeka.
The regions are also competing for bragging rights. The region to raise the most money for its designated charity will be declared the DCF 2014 Charity Champion. DCF has 2,300 employees.
