TOPEKA – March is an exciting time for basketball fans, and the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) has plenty of staff cheering on teams in the tournament. In an effort to support local charities, DCF Secretary Phyllis Gilmore is pleased to announce details of the 2015 DCF Charity Championship. During the days of the tournament, DCF employees will voluntarily make a minimum $3 donation so they can wear their team T-shirts, polos or sweatshirts. All money raised goes to five designated charities.
“This is a great way to boost employee morale and support our partnering organizations at the same time,” Secretary Gilmore said.
The charities were selected for each of the four DCF regions and DCF’s central office in Topeka. The charities include Children’s Miracle Network, Our Daily Bread, Harvesters, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Topeka Rescue Mission.
The regions are also competing for bragging rights. Last year, the Wichita region won. The region to raise the most money for its designated charity will be declared the DCF 2015 Charity Champion. DCF has approximately 2,500 employees.
